Sports marketing agency Orsen has announced the launch of the Solidarity Challenge, an initiative created in partnership with video game developer Konami to raise funds on behalf of the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation.
The Solidarity Challenge will see 16 prominent figures from the worlds of sports and entertainment compete against each other on in a knock-out tournament on Konami’s PES 2020 football video game. All profits generated by the competition will be donated to the WHO’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
The identity of the competitors involved will be revealed via the Solidarity Challenge’s social media channels between May 22 and June 5, while the contest itself will be broadcast on June 12, 13 and 14.
Switzerland-based Orsen has so far struck broadcast agreements in over 60 countries, with further discussions ongoing, while the whole tournament will be made available worldwide via YouTube.
The Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund was established by the UN Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation at the request of the WHO, and is the only channel by which organisations and individuals can contribute directly to the WHO’s ongoing efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Non-Profit Disclosure: Excluding event production costs, fees and expenses, all funds raised by the “Solidarity Challenge” by Orsen will be donated to the UN Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO. Orsen have no interest in, or rights to, any part of the donation amount.
