Austrian public-service broadcaster ORF has announced plans to shut its ORF Sport + linear television channel as part of a wider range of measures designed to save around €300m ($319.7m) by 2026.

ORF Sport + launched in May 2006 with the remit of creating a home for fringe sports on Austrian television. However, the linear channel is now set to be discontinued, under plans announced by ORF director general Roland Weißmann, with content moved over to digital platforms and the main ORF 1 channel.
