NWSL commissioner Berman boasts league growth, expansion

Speaking in Washington, District of Columbia, ahead of the National Women’s Soccer League championship game set for October 29, NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman provided insight on league sponsorships and growth, its plans for expansion, and an update on the investigation into systemic abuse in the league.

The NWSL’s sponsorship revenue is up 90 per cent year-over-year, she said, while viewership of the league is up 30 per cent year-over-year this season. Along with average playoff attendance above 21,000, the NWSL also surpassed 1 million total fans at games this year.
