Premier League club Norwich City has entered an agreement with Finnish marketing agency i2 ltd in a bid to further expand its presence across the country.
Finland already represents Norwich’s second-largest retail market outside of the UK, with this largely due to the success of its Finnish striker Teemu Pukki.
It will now seek to utilise this deal with the marketing agency to build on this and further develop its brand across the country.
Ben Tunnel, head of commercial development at Norwich City, explained the types of sponsorship contracts that will be the focus of the deal. He said: ‘’In the UK we have built the foundations of our self-financed model on securing long-term regional partnership agreements with local businesses. We are hoping to continue this trend overseas by partnering with great, privately-held local Finnish businesses.”
I2 director Jari-Pekka Jouppi, said: “The people of Finland are now extremely interested in Teemu Pukki and Norwich City. During the current season, the team’s games have had an average of 400 Finnish spectators [for matches at Carrow Road].’’
‘’We wish to make using the team in marketing communications both in the English and Finnish markets as easy as possible.”
