Nippon Professional Baseball appoints new commissioner

Sadayuki Sakakibara has been appointed as the new commissioner of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), the sport’s top-tier competition in Japan.

Sakakibara will serve a two-year term, according to Japanese news agency Kyodo, having been appointed as the 15th commissioner at an online meeting between NPB and its board, consisting of the 12 member clubs.
