News and Cablevision resume talks over Fox dispute

Both sides accused the other of bad faith negotiations as the existing carriage deal expired and more than three million homes lost the Fox channels hours before the New York Yankees played the Texas Rangers in the second game of Major League Baseball’s American League Championship. The New York Giants also played the Detroit Lions in the National Football League on Sunday on Fox.

Cablevision says it has paid News $70 million every year for its channels, but the Rupert Murdoch-run company is demanding more than $150 million a year.

In March, Cablevision subscribers lost access to Disney’s ABC network and the start of the annual Oscars telecast before a carriage deal was struck. The cable operator also lost the Food Network and HGTV for about two weeks before a deal was made and the channels were restored.
