New Zealand to host new international netball tournament

Netball New Zealand has announced that it will host an international Super Club competition in the city of Nelson next month.

The tournament will feature the top three teams from the ANZ Premiership, the top division of netball in New Zealand, as well as five other teams from Australia, Fiji, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and Wales. The identities of the teams will be confirmed after qualifying processes in each of the countries.

The event will be held at the 1,662-capacity Trafalgar Centre and will feature 20 games from July 2-7.

Netball New Zealand chief executive Jennie Wyllie said that she would like the Super Club tournament to become a “long-term” annual event.

“Netball New Zealand has a five-year vision for Super Club; we believe the opportunities this will create will provide players with the international competition they cannot otherwise find,” Wyllie said.

All of the games will be broadcast live on the Sky Sport 4 pay-television channel.
