US sportswear brand Champion has agreed a deal to become the official on-court player apparel partner of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL).

Champion will design team jerseys from the 2020-21 NBL season, along with a range of club streetwear for fans. The agreement will run for three years.

Champion produced on-court jerseys for North America’s NBA during the 1990s and into the 2000s.

Champion will replace First Ever as the NBL’s on-court apparel partner.

NBL owner and executive chairman Larry Kestelman said: “Champion is an iconic brand and we look forward to working with them and creating something special for players and fans.

“We would also like to thank Justin Kestelman and his team at First Ever for creating an amazing apparel programme and growing the category to a level that a brand like Champion is partnering with NBL.”

Champion also sponsored the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award at the NBL’s 2020 MVP Awards.
