NBC Sports Next strengthens golf industry presence with RevTechPlus acquisition

NBC Sports Next has acquired golf course revenue-management system RevTechPlus, a move which complements the company's tee time online booking service GolfNow.

RevTechPlus features proprietary algorithm that factors in weather, tee-time demand, and historical data to help a client base of more than 90 public, semi-private and municipal golf courses set pricing and maximize revenue.

It also offers a menu of additional services, including email marketing, social media, and website hosting.

RevTechPlus founder and chief executive Tom Barnhart and the company's staff will become employees of NBC Sports Next upon completion of the transaction.

“We are very excited to bring aboard Tom and the entire RevTechPlus team,” said Jerramy Hainline, NBC Sports Next Golf's senior vice president and general manager. “They are established leaders in revenue management and have become a trusted resource for their golf course customers. We’re looking forward to collaborating with their entire team to build upon a solid foundation to further strengthen existing relationships and provide additional value."

In August, NBC Sports announced the formation of its NBC Sports Next division, which has brought together its SportsEngine, GolfNow and NBC Sports Enterprises platforms under a united brand to bolster innovation and provide better, more intuitive sports experiences.

The sports technology division has three verticals: youth and recreational sports; golf; and betting, gaming and emerging media.
