The National Basketball Association is making its league-owned cable television channel, NBA TV, available as a direct-to-consumer offering, making it the first linear sports league network to debut an OTT subscription offering.
NBA TV will be available through NBA.com and the NBA app for $6.99 per month or $59.99 per year. The channel, which will also remain available on authenticated basis from pay-TV providers, offers more than 100 exclusive live, out-of-market games per season as well as a wide variety of studio, behind-the-scenes, documentary, and archival programming.
The channel also offers additional live games from the Women’s National Basketball Association, NBA G League, and NBA Summer League.
Twenty of those live NBA regular season games will be part of the league’s new “Center Court” viewing option in which NBA TV will experiment with various production enhancements including new camera angles, live on-screen group chats with celebrity influencers, advanced statistics displays, and social media integration.
