The National Hockey League's New York Islanders face the prospect of having to find a new home for the 2020-21 season after it was announced that the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum would be closing indefinitely.

It was announced in March that the Islanders would play all of their home games at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, next season. The move came after New York State invested $6m to bring the 13,00-capacity multi-purpose venue up to minimum NHL standards.
