MotoGP is to race in India for the first time after Dorna Sports, the international motorcycling championship’s commercial rights-holder, finalised a hosting rights deal with event promoter Fairstreet Sports.

The inaugural edition of the race, which will be known as the Grand Prix of Bharat, will take place next year. It will be held at the Buddh International Circuit, which staged an annual round of the Formula 1 championship from 2011 to 2013, until financial and bureaucratic difficulties put an end to Formula 1’s stay in India.
