MOROCCO SET FOR 2010 BID

The North African country fell in the first round of voting last year to stage the 2006 World Cup finals which were awarded to Germany.
Sports Minister Ahmed Moussaoui said last year’s failed bid allowed Morocco to show the world how determined it was to host the event.
“This encourages us even more to fight for 2010,” he said.
The minister said three main stadia were planned in Casablanca, Marrakesh and Tangiers as part of a five-year 2000-2004 economic development programme.
