Morocco decides against bidding for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco will not enter the race to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, despite being tipped to stage the event after Cameroon was stripped of the hosting rights due to poor preparations.

“Morocco did not intend to run for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and will not do so,” Minister of Youth and Sport Rachid Talbi Alami told AFP.

Interested parties have until Friday evening to make an official bid. South Africa is considered the favourite to host the event in June, which has been expanded to 24 teams for the first time.
