Major League Soccer has announced it will stage the postponed eMLS Cup as a virtual event on June 28.
The event will be streamed live on Twitch, Twitter, and the official MLS website from 1pm–6pm ET. Coca-Cola and PlayStation are the presenting sponsors.
The eMLS Cup was initially scheduled to take place at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, in March. However, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the event was rescheduled and will now be virtual.
To celebrate MLS returning to live play with the “MLS is Back Tournament” in Orlando, Florida, this summer MLS players will be featured as part of the Fifa 20 squads of all eMLS Cup competitors and showcased during gameplay.
In April, MLS teamed up with Fox Sports to create a new esports competition, which was designed to help fill the sports competition void amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.
