Major League Baseball on September 21-22 will bring FoodFest, the league’s celebration of baseball’s connection with food, back to New York as part of a three-city tour this year.
The New York event will again allow fans to sample menu items from all 30 MLB ballparks in a single location. After initially demonstrating FoodFest last year in New York to capacity crowds, the league took it in April to Los Angeles, California, and has a planned stop this fall [Autumn] in London.
The FoodFest concept involves having a separate concession item represent each club, and 26 of the 30 menu items offered in New York will be new from last year. A handful of notable items, including the Seattle Mariners’ toasted grasshoppers and the Arizona Diamondbacks’ churro dogs, are returning.
As in prior iterations, the FoodFest items will be replicated by a catering company with input from major club concessionaires such as Aramark, Centerplate, Delaware North, Legends Hospitality, and Levy Restaurants. Budweiser is in place as the presenting sponsor of FoodFest.
The New York event will also be expanded to include the league’s Home Run Derby Virtual Reality game, though in a non-competitive context.
Like the prior stops of FoodFest, the New York version is designed in part to attract non-core fans who are initially more interested in food than baseball, and feature the sport heavily on social media.
