The Minnesota Vikings have hired digital agency Seven League to run bespoke Instagram, Facebook and Twitter channels for the NFL team in the United Kingdom and Germany for the forthcoming season.
According to a press release, the Vikings are one of just two NFL teams currently offering localised content for international fans, delivered in their time zone and language.
Scott Kegley, the Vikings’ executive director of digital media and innovation, said: “The Vikings have an amazing fan base, and many of those fans live outside the United States. Many may not ever get to attend a game or meet their favorite players, but it’s extremely important for them to feel close to the team.
“By opening social accounts for the UK and Germany, we view this as the first step towards building an even stronger connection with our fans overseas.”
Seven League also works with FC Barcelona, Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Watford, Everton, Fulham, as well as Fifa, Uefa, the FA and the Premier League.
