Brazilian football club Corinthians has ended its sleeve sponsorship agreement with online gambling platform MarjoSports.
The sponsorship deal began in April 2019 and had been set to run until January 2021, but has now been curtailed due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The São Paulo-based club had granted the brand visibility on the sleeves of the team’s kit, as well as on signage at the club’s training ground, interview backdrops and on digital platforms.
In April, the two organisations agreed to suspend payments on the contract amid the suspension of the Brazilian season.
Corinthians’ sponsorship portfolio is headlined by front-of-shirt sponsor, Brazilian bank Banco BMG and kit supplier, sportswear giant Nike.
MarjoSports retains main sponsorship deals with fellow Brazilian Série A sides Goiás and Coritiba.
The news follows the departure of digital bank BS2 as the main sponsor of Flamengo.
