Premier League club Manchester City has signed a new training kit sponsor, agreeing a deal with online gambling platform Marathonbet.

Marathonbet is already a part of the club’s sponsorship portfolio and will be upgraded into a higher designation as training kit sponsor.

Omar Berrada, chief operating officer at Manchester City, said: “Launching our first training kit partner is a significant moment for Manchester City and we are delighted to be doing this with our existing partner, Marathonbet.

“The last eighteen months of partnership have been extremely positive for both organisations and we are pleased to recognise this success by expanding our relationship together.”

The pair’s association began in 2018 in what represented City’s first ever global betting partnership.

Since the start of the 2018-19 season, Marathonbet has provided the matchday betting at the club’s Etihad stadium.

The club didn’t have a training kit partner before the deal was agreed. The Daily Mail reports the deal is worth an eight-figure sum, which would put it amongst Manchester City’s top contracts in terms of value. Manchester City’s sponsorship portfolio can be viewed in further detail in SportBusiness Soccer.

In other news, Mumbai City FC has signed up Ethiad Airways as sponsor. The club was recently acquired by City Football Group which owns Manchester City, Australian team Melbourne City, MLS side New York City, as well as minority stakes in clubs in Japan, China, Spain and Uruguay.
