Major League Rugby hires Jon Persch as chief commercial officer

Major League Rugby has hired Jon Persch as its new chief commercial officer in its attempts to “improve the MLR brand identity within the US sports industry.”

A former rugby union player and coach, Persch previously held the same role for USA Rugby as well as executive roles at Tribeca Enterprises, World Wrestling Entertainment and CAA Sports.

James Kennedy, Rugby United New York’s majority owner, said: “Being in NYC and knowing the interest there is from corporate America to build relationships with MLR, it’s fantastic to have Jon onboard to facilitate these relationships.”

“We are thrilled to have Jon on board with the MLR,” said MLR commissioner Dean Howes. “He brings an immense level of expertise of the commercial and sports industries that will aid in the development of fruitful relationships with partners to grow the MLR brand in the United States.”
