France’s Professional Football League (LFP) has abandoned plans to stage a Ligue 1 match between Lyon and Monaco in Shanghai amid ongoing difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in China.

The LFP had been looking to stage the match between February 4 and 6 next year, with the fixture designed to develop the Ligue 1 product internationally. The dates had been chosen so that the match would not clash with European club competition fixtures.
