English Premier League football club Leicester City has appointed Legends International to carry out research relating to the proposed expansion of its King Power Stadium home ground.
Legends will commence the next phase of support and consumer studies in the coming days. Leicester hopes the research process will provide it with a better understanding of supporters’ match-day routines and preferences, which will help the club in planning the development of fan-focused facilities and services.
The views of all current season ticket holders will be sought during the multi-stage study as Leicester looks to ensure supporters contribute to the formative stages of planning.
King Power Stadium’s current capacity of 32,243. The ground, which was formerly known as Walkers Stadium through an agreement with the crisps brand, opened in 2002.
The Srivaddhanaprabha family, which owns Leicester, outlined plans to develop the King Power Stadium site in 2018. The stadium has hosted England international matches and Rugby World Cup fixtures in the past.
Leicester chief executive Susan Whelan said: “Rather than simply increasing capacity, our aim is to transform King Power Stadium into a world-class sporting and events destination, opening a range of options, now being explored as part of our longer-term development. Supporter and stakeholder insights will help us to sharpen our focus based on meaningful intelligence and will ensure that we deliver the best facilities for our fans, and for the city of Leicester.”
