Krakow to take centre stage for EHF Euro 2016

The European Handball Federation (EHF) has announced its hosting plans for the Men’s Euro 2016 national team competition in Poland, including an extended tournament playing schedule.

A total of four cities across the host nation will stage matches at Euro 2016, which will take place from January 15-31, 2016. The EHF has introduced this new 17-day playing schedule in an attempt to make the event more attractive to television viewers and spectators. The main round will now be played over seven days instead of five, with three of the four match days played with two games instead of three.

Krakow Arena in the Polish city of Krakow will be the centre point of the tournament by hosting preliminary and main matches, as well as both semi-finals and the final. The Polish Handball Federation also confirmed that all of the national team’s games will also take place at the 15,000 capacity venue.

Centennial Hall in Wroclaw will also host preliminary round, main round and placement matches. The remaining preliminary round matches will take place at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk and Spodek Arena in Katowice.
