Konami adds Zenit to list of PES-sponsored clubs

Russian football club Zenit St. Petersburg has been added to Konami’s sponsorship portfolio for its football video game, Pro Evolution Soccer 2020.

The deal will see Zenit’s Gazprom Arena officially recreated as a venue within the game, becoming available in 2020. It also includes further specifics for the Russian, which is key for Konami.

In 2018, it signed an exclusive contract to feature the entire Russian Premier League within its PES series.

Zenit’s esports team are currently champions of the country’s virtual league and collaborations focused on esports are thought to be under consideration for this new agreement.

The club joins the likes of Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in signing with Konami and adding PES as a sponsor.

The company has also recently signed a licensing deal with Serie A, as well as a tie-up with Uefa to launch an esports tournament themed around Euro 2020.
