Italian sports brand Kappa has signed as the new kit supplier to German Bundesliga football club FSV Mainz 05 for five years from next season.

The deal, brokered by the Infront agency, will see Kappa supply the playing kit and training apparel to the professional team and all the club’s age-level teams, as well as its handball and table tennis teams.

Kappa will also launch a new range of merchandise and plans to incorporate more sustainable materials in future products.

Cornelia Schmidt, managing director of Kappa Deutschland praised the club for establishing itself in the Bundesliga [since 20019-10], while developing a “positive brand” image.

The southern Germany club formerly played in kit supplied by Italian sports brand rival Lotto in a five-year deal, from 2015-16 to 2019-20, worth about €1m ($1.1m) per season.

Kappa’s current portfolio of European football club partners includes SSC Napoli, Aston Villa, Betis Sevilla, AS Monaco and Leeds United.
