Italian sportswear brand Kappa has agreed a deal to become the official technical apparel partner of the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup club rugby union competitions.

Kappa agreed the deal with European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR), which organises the two competitions. The three-year agreement will run until the end of the 2021-22 season.

As part of the deal, Kappa will supply match officials’ kits for Champions Cup and Challenge Cup matches, as well as apparel for EPCR staff and various other organisational purposes.

Kappa will also create a line of clothing that will be available to the general public through an online store, and on-site at selected matches during the season.

Rémi Garnier, director of Kappa Europe’s sport division, said: “This new partnership between Kappa and EPCR is intended to strengthen our rugby presence in Europe and, more specifically, in the United Kingdom.

“We already have a strong presence in France with nine professional clubs (including Stade Français Paris, Castres Olympique, Montpellier and Bayonne), so the idea is to bring our know-how on a larger scale and to establish a long-term presence throughout Europe.”

Kappa joins Heineken, Tissot, Financial Times and Gilbert in the EPCR’s sponsorship portfolio.

The partnership was brokered in conjunction with gameplan Limited.
