Aaron Judge, star outfielder for Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees, topped the list of the most popular MLB player jerseys for the 2019 regular season. It was the third consecutive season Judge has had the most popular MLB player jersey with fans.
The rankings, reflecting sales of official Majestic jerseys at the league’s MLBShop.com since Opening Day in April, showed Judge in the number one slot followed by Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper, who has fueled a series of sales gains for his new team this year.
Rounding out the top 10 behind Judge and Harper, in order, were Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger, Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich, Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts, Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, and Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo.
Acuna Jr.’s No. 6 reflects a rapid rise from No. 20 in the 2018 top-selling jersey list.
This year’s top 10 list reflected nine different teams. And for the first time since MLB has released its annual player jersey rankings, the nine most popular players were all under the age of 30.
New York Mets rookie phenom Pete Alonso, who won a life-changing $1m at the Home Run Derby in July and was MLB’s top home-run hitter in 2019 en route to setting new rookie single-season record, ranked No. 14 on the jersey list.
