The Japanese government is set to remove limits on the number of spectators allowed to attend large-scale sports events following a decrease in Covid-19 cases, according to the Kyodo news agency.

Under restrictions currently in place in Tokyo, a maximum of 20,000 people are allowed to attend large-scale events as long as they wear face masks. In worse affected areas, a 10,000-person cap is in place.
