The International Paralympic Committee is calling for expressions of interest from cities, national governments, sports organisations and other entities to take over the governance of Para athletics and Para swimming in their territories.

The process is the culmination of the IPC’s Governance Review Proposal, published in 2019, which determined that World Para Sports should become independent from the global governing body. The IPC membership still has to vote on the measure at its upcoming General Assembly on December 12, with the organisation likely to run a bidding process in the first quarter of 2022 if it is approved.
