IOC insists public opinion will not derail Tokyo 2020

The International Olympics Committee has stressed that it will not be driven by public opinion into cancelling the Tokyo 2020 Games as it shrugged off mounting public and athlete criticism at a press conference yesterday (Wednesday).

Speaking following an IOC executive board meeting, spokesperson Mark Adams said that the Olympic body was in “full implementation mode” as the Games begins a 10-week countdown to the opening ceremony on 23 July.
