Inter Miami forced to continue search for temporary MLS stadium

David Beckham’s Inter Miami must continue their search for a temporary stadium for the 2020 MLS season after it emerged that Marlins Park and Hard Rock Stadium are out of the picture.

The respective homes of the MLB Miami Marlins and NFL Miami Dolphins are reportedly uncomfortable with sharing their venue with the MLS expansion team during their seasons.

“We’ve had some conversations with MLS Miami and Jorge Mas and his team,” Marlins director of operations Chip Bowers told the Miami Herald. “Both sides, to each party’s credit, has been really focused on making sure this is the right operational fit. I think the reality is, we’ve both realised, it probably isn’t.”

Co-owner Mas says the team will make an announcement over a venue in late February/early March, possibly Riccardo Silva Stadium at Florida International University.

Notably, Bowers claimed that MLS team New York City FC have a $1m-a-game-commitment to the New York Yankees to play their games at Yankee Stadium.
