The Infront agency has acquired a stake in the AI-based video tracking and analytics company, Videocites, and will introduce the firm’s technology to its rights clients.
The investment in the Israel-based company was led by Infront Lab, a new unit within the Wanda Sports Group-owned company.
Videocites’ unique fingerprinting technology uses visual properties within videos in order to immediately track all copies of live, on-demand and promotional content across all channels. This, Infront said today (Tuesday), is designed to grant content owners deeper insight into consumer behaviour than traditional analytics, helping them to better understand their audience and influencers.
Infront said that the tool provides “more detailed information on earned media value” and identifies “pirate streams of on-demand and sports events, removing them immediately and substantially reducing the number of illegal broadcasts and lost views”.
Infront has already engaged the services of Videocites to aid the delivery of one of the major events to which the agency commercialises the rights. At the 2020 European Handball Championship, which concluded at the weekend, Videocites’ AI-based tracking and analytics tool was utilised to calculate engagement and reach of all content produced by the European Handball Federation (EHF).
The Videocites deal marks Infront’s latest investment in the tech sector. In July, the agency acquired a stake in Minute.ly, an AI-driven video enhancement company, with a strategic focus on providing rights holders with the company’s automated video technology.
