The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has awarded its 2016 Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships to the South Korean city of Incheon.
The Korea Gymnastics Association will host the World Championships from June 17-19, with the world age group competitions preceding the main event from June 13-15. The 2016 Aerobic Worlds will be held at the Namdong Gymnasium, the same venue that hosted gymnastics at the 2014 edition of the Asian Games multi-sport event in Incheon.
The Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships are held on a biennial basis with the Mexican city of Cancun hosting the most recent edition in 2014. South Korea won two bronze medals at the event in the disciplines of trio and aerobic dance.
The 2016 Worlds will take the event to Asia for the second time after the 2006 competition was staged in Nanjing, China. World titles in seven aerobic categories will be up for grabs in Incheon, with more than 300 athletes from at least 30 countries expected to participate.
