Inaugural NBA Store opens in Mexico

Ahead of this week’s NBA Mexico City Games 2019, the National Basketball Association has announced the opening of the inaugural NBA Store in Mexico.

The 2,023 square-foot retail space is located in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City. It offers the widest selection of NBA merchandise available in Mexico, as well as features like a digital video wall displaying live NBA games, scores, highlights and social media content, and interactive elements such as NBA player measure-ups and legend footprints.

Additionally, fans will be able to personalize hats using the store’s customization service, buy tickets to games, sign up for NBA League Pass and attend special events, including NBA and WNBA player and legend autograph signings and appearances.

The store opening precedes the NBA Mexico City Games 2019, which will feature the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, and San Antonio Spurs playing two regular-season games at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City. It marks the first time that four NBA teams will play in Mexico in one regular season.

The Mavericks and Pistons will play on Thursday, December 12, and the Spurs will take on the Suns two days later. The games will mark the 29th and 30th games in Mexico since 1992, the most NBA games held in any country outside the United States and Canada. It will also be the fourth consecutive season the NBA will play two regular-season games in Mexico City.

The games will be broadcast live on ESPN Deportes, Televisa and NBA League Pass in Mexico, and will reach fans in more than 200 countries and territories. Marketing partners include AT&T, Nike, Tissot, Gatorade, SAP, Codere and Coors Light.
