The Asian members of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation have established a regional confederation despite the Olympic Council of Asia warning it will not recognise the organisation.

The new grouping, known as the Asian MMA Federation (AMMAF), aims to develop the sport in the region amid its ongoing pursuit for inclusion at the Olympic Games. The IMMAF, which is not recognised by the International Olympic Committee or the OCA, said it plans to establish similar organisations in all continents.
