IMG is looking to recruit a commercial director for esports who will take responsibility for generating and managing commercial relationships and sales within the media arm of the agency giant.
IMG Media has been advertising the position and interested candidates must submit their applications by Sunday (March 15).
The position is based within the media rights and acquisitions division at IMG’s offices in Chiswick, London and the successful candidate will report to IMG Media’s senior vice-president of UK media and global digital sales.
Responsibilities will include the heading up of the esports media division and managing IMG Media’s esports rights sales worldwide. IMG Media said that the esports commercial director will provide project input and support across the following areas: media rights; sponsorship account management; consultancy; event and operations; and talent management.
In 2015, the WME-IMG agency (now Endeavor) created the ELeague alongside US media group Turner Broadcasting. Epic Games also hired Endeavor to oversee operations and logistics for last year’s inaugural Fortnite World Cup Finals with IMG Media managing the media rights distribution.
Meanwhile, a deadline is approaching for applicants to apply to become a commercial executive to support the team behind IMG Media’s Edgesport action sports channel. The executive will be responsible for overall support to the Edgesport and content and channels team on sales of Edgesport and other properties.
The role will involve working with IMG Media’s global network of sales executives to develop and close Edgesport channel sales. Applications must also be submitted by Sunday.
IMG’s commercial director for the channel is John Grabowski, who spoke to SportBusiness at the end of last year about its distribution strategy.
