IMG acquires Great Ocean Road Marathon

Sports marketing agency IMG has acquired The Great Ocean Road Marathon ahead of the event’s 10th anniversary.

IMG launched the Australian 45-kilometre marathon yesterday, which is staged annually along the iconic Great Ocean Road taking place next on May 17-18.

IMG senior vice-president and managing director Martin Jolly, “We were attracted to the event because of its rich history, world-class location and the continuing growth of the running market in Australia.”

More than 5,700 entrants competed from over 12 countries this year, with organisers expecting to pass the 6,000 mark next year.
