The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has stripped Russia of the hosting rights to next year’s Ice Hockey World Championship following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
The event had been due to take place in the city of Saint Petersburg from May 5-21 next year. The decision to withdraw the competition from Russia was taken during the latest IIHF Council meeting held yesterday (Tuesday) in Zurich, Switzerland.
