The International Ice Hockey Federation has announced that it has asked its independent Ethics Board to launch investigations into both its former president René Fasel and the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, over issues relating to the invasion of Ukraine.

The IIHF council said in a statement yesterday (Thursday) that it had received reports that the RIHF had instructed teams in the Kontinental Hockey League, the Russia-based championship, to “take demonstrative actions in support of the Russia-Ukraine war,” sending out pro-war campaign posters that clubs were ordered to use during games.
