Huelva lands 2021 World Badminton Championships

The Spanish city of Huelva has been awarded hosting rights for the 2021 edition of the World Badminton Championships.

The event, which is sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), will be organised by the Spanish Federation of Badminton (FESBA).

Huelva has been awarded the event after successfully hosting the European Championships in 2018.

FESBA will work with the Andalusian Federation of Badminton to establish an organising committee for the 2021 event.

The World Badminton Championships are held annually, except for Olympic years. Last year’s tournament was held in Nanjing, China, while the 2019 event will take place in the Swiss city of Basel.
