US businessman Todd Boehly’s proposed £4.25bn (€5.06bn/$5.3bn) takeover of Chelsea has hit a potential stumbling block after it emerged that the UK government has not been assured of how the funds from the sale of the Premier League club will be distributed.
Boehly, the co-owner of Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers and the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, reached a formal agreement earlier this month to acquire Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.
