Giro d’Italia start postponed as Hungarian government declares state of emergency

The start of this year’s Giro d’Italia cycling race has been delayed by its organiser, RCS Sport, in response to the Hungarian government declaring a state of emergency in the country. 

The outbreak of coronavirus across Europe has prompted Hungry to take special measures which prevent mass gatherings, making organising the launch of the event in the country impossible on the scheduled dates.
