GERMANY AND ITALY COULD LOSE F1 RACES

Germany presently hosts the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim and the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring and Italy stages the Italian Grand Prix at Monza and the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola.

The Belgian Grand Prix could take one place in the 2007 calendar after the local authorities contracted a consortium of construction firms to upgrade the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in a Eur18.85 million face-lift.

And Japan may take the other slot. The Fuji circuit has been confirmed as the new venue for the Japanese Grand Prix, but Suzuka, which has until now staged the race, also hopes to host a race.
