Full Sail University esports arena set to open next month

The largest esports arena on a United States college campus is set to open next month. Florida’s Full Sail University will open a 11,200 square foot facility which can seat as many as 500 spectators and 100 gamers at a single time. It is likely to be a destination for major esports events.

The new facility, which will be known as “The Fortress”, cost $6m (€5m) to build. The campus near Orlando has in the past served as the host for several top esports events and was home to the Florida Mayhem, an Overwatch League team during their 2018 campaign.

Armada, an esports team that competes in multiple competitions, is based at Full Sail University.
