US automotive manufacturer Ford has signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the Churchill Downs racetrack.
The agreement names Ford as the official truck, SUV, car and van of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, the track’s showpiece annual horse-racing event.
As part of the deal, the new 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty will serve as the featured vehicle of the 146th Kentucky Derby, which takes place on May 2.
Ford will host on-site activities throughout Derby week to highlight the Built Ford Proud line-up. The company will also provide a Ford Explorer to each Kentucky Oaks and Derby horse owner for use at Churchill Downs during the event.
Ford marketing director Matt Van Dyke said: “With Louisville Assembly Plant and Kentucky Truck Plant within such close proximity to Churchill Downs, Ford’s participation in this uniquely American tradition is long overdue.”
