Brazilian football club Flamengo has agreed an official sponsorship deal with multi-national oil and gas company Total.

The contract will run for two years and will grant rights across all six competitions in which the club competes.

Flamengo is the current champion of both the Brasileiro Série A and the South American regional competition, the Copa Libertadores. This qualified Flamengo for the Fifa Club World Cup 2019, where it lost in the final to Champions League holder Liverpool.

The Total deal has been constructed with the brand’s Brazilian subsidiaries, Total Brasil Distribuidora and Total E&P do Brasil, and bolsters a sponsorship portfolio which includes main shirt sponsor, Brazilian bank BS2 Banco and kit supplier adidas.

The global Total brand holds contracts across other sports, including with the Badminton World Federation to sponsor both the BWF World Championships and the Para-World Championships.
