The International Volleyball Federation’s 2019-20 Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar features 42 stops, including eight new events.
The four biggest events on the calendar are the Olympic ranking event in Rome, in June; and the Major Series events in Gstaad, in July; in Vienna, in August; and in Hamburg, also in August.
The seven new events this year are in Laos, Cambodia, Israel, Korea, the Cook Islands, Guam, Iran and China.
The total prize purse for this year’s tour is $6.56m (€5.9m).
The season begins in October in Iran, at Bandar Torkaman. It continues through China (Qinzhou), Israel (Tel Aviv), Qatar (Doha) and Mexico (Chetumal). Asia hosts the first event in 2020, a new tournament in Qeshm, Iran in January. It is followed by events in the Cook Islands, Bandar Abbas (Iran), Siem Reap and Phnom Penh (both Cambodia), Guam, Australia (venue to be decided), Visakhapatnam (India), Argentina (venue to be decided), Doha, Langkawi (Malaysia), Boracay (Philippines), Cancun (Mexico), Satun in Thailand, Singapore, Yangzhou and Xiamen (both China), Itapema (Brazil), Jurmala (Latvia), Tuan Chau Island (Vietnam), Jinjiang (China), Ostrava (Czech Republic), Warsaw (Poland), Moscow (Russia), Rome, Gstaad, Miguel Pereira (Brazil), Vientiane (Laos), Daegu (Korea), Qidong (China), and Espinho (Portugal).
The season breaks for the beach volleyball tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics before resuming with events in Buyeo and Busan (both Korea). This is followed by the final two Major Series events, in Vienna (August 12-16) and Hamburg (August 19-23), that provide the climax of the season.
