FISU suspends Ekaterinburg’s 2023 World University Games hosting rights

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has suspended the Russian city of Ekaterinburg’s hosting rights for next year’s World University Games.

The move has been taken in response to Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine, although the event’s general director Alexander Chernov claimed that it is “not a transfer from Ekaterinburg, this is a transfer to a later date”.
