A peak audience of 3.7 million tuned into watch the BBC’s UK coverage of the first official “Middle Sunday” at this year’s Wimbledon Championships while a further 4.7 million viewers watched the day’s play through the BBC iPlayer or BBC Sport website, according to figures released by the British public-service broadcaster.
The audience for the day’s play represents the fifth highest peak audience across the first seven days of the event, beating Thursday and Friday’s viewing figures when the tournament delivered a 2.7 million and 2.5 million peak respectively.
