Fina, the global governing body of aquatic sports, has today (Wednesday) unveiled the calendar for the 2019 edition of its Diving World Series, which will see London return to the schedule and a first event held in the Japanese city of Sagamihara.
The series gets underway in Sagamihara from March 1-3, before the Chinese capital of Beijing, which has staged a leg of the series since 2011, hosts from March 7-9.
The series then heads to Montreal in Canada from April 26-28 before the Russian city of Kazan hosts from May 10-12. London will then stage the concluding leg from May 17-19. The English capital last hosted an event in 2015.
The series will feature 10 events: men’s 3m springboard/men’s 10m platform, men’s synchronised 3m springboard/10m platform, women’s 3m springboard/women’s 10m platform, women’s synchronised 3m springboard/10m platform and two mixed events (3m and 10m).
The total prize money for next year’s series is around $1.5m (€1.3m), with only divers that take part in all five legs eligible to receive a share.
